Since day one, we have produced all of our Le Colonel products. Responsible production is in our DNA, and having our own atelier plays a huge part in realising this.

We’ve come a long way since 2012 when Rémi was alone, sewing in his own apartment. Now we are 12 in our spacious workshop, where we dream, design, prototype and create our unique pieces.

Now, you can forget the image of the family Singer. Bit by bit, we’ve equipped ourselves with an array of incredible industrial machines: flatbed lockstitch machine, heat press, heavy duty press for our press studs, and most recently an embroidery machine to enable us to widen the offer for personalisation. Each of these help us to produce the quality accessories you know, made in Lille.

The members of our team each have their own specialities, but they are all trained to work across the floor.

We create, package and send everything to you from the same place. Logistics, atelier, fabric stock, office and photo studio are all together under one roof, allowing us to optimise our workflow and reduce our carbon footprint at the same time.

This is how we are able to fulfil and ship your orders in record time. This is our vision for our world of #QUICKSLOWFASHION.

“Our workshop in the heart of Lille is my pride and joy.”

- Rémi, co-founder

STYLISH, QUALITY PRODUCTS
LOCAL & RESPONSIBLE
SMALL PRODUCTION
HUMAN-SIZED

Our raison d’être is to make unrivalled products for a reasonable price. Must-have motifs are the signature of Le Colonel. We pay particular attention to the materials we use, only choosing fabrics of unquestionable quality.

We collaborate only with the best, such as Albert Thurston and Bertelles, known worldwide for their expertise in braces; and Pantherella British sock specialist since 1937. Our belts were designed by Le Colonel and developed in collaboration with Albert Thurston, and most recently, we have introduced our made in France shirts, part of a new line of ready-to-wear pieces from FYU Paris (by Le Colonel).

When you choose Le Colonel, you invest in pieces to wear and wear for years to come.

We have been working with local suppliers since day one. And it’s important to us to make the best of what he have here in the North of France. We’re proud to have contributed to the revival of textile production in the North.

More concretely: Our machines come from Roubaix (59) Our tickets are manufactured in Halluin (59) Our thread is produced in Marcq-en-Baroeul (59) Our interfacing is from Péronne en Picardie (80) Our cotton comes from the north of France, the UK and Spain; Silks are sourced in France and Italy; Japanese cotton comes from Japan.

We limit our production to small series and adjust it weekly according to our sales. This prevents overstock and waste. With the leftover stock we do have, we’ll either put it on sale or more ideally, reuse the fabric to make something else – such as our collection of scrunchies.

You can now upcycle your own pieces or donate to our #THISISHOWWEDO collection.

The wonderful people in our team at Le Colonel are all motivated by the same thing. To contribute to a small business that is in its very nature, responsible. Make something beautiful, make it well, make with love.

It all started in 2011, when Rémi was looking for and failed to find a bow tie to his taste. Inspired by the careers of his beloved mother and grandmother, he decided to take matters into his own hands and began sewing bow tie after bow tie.

Clémence, his partner decided to create a blog to sell these unique pieces, which took off so rapidly that soon enough, they both had to leave their jobs to run Le Colonel full time. Starting with the launch of Le Colonel website and their very own atelier shop in Lille.

The adventure was joined by Clemence’s brother, Valentin, in 2014, who opened the Paris and London boutiques. The Lyon boutique then followed suit in 2017. Today, Le Colonel creates much more than just bow ties, including an unparalleled range of neckwear, women’s hair accessories and stunning ready to wear pieces.
